Titanium wedding rings :: Laser family crest engraving :: Hand seal engraving
You will find numerous references in my website to the fact that most of my rings are made to
order, preventing the need to make them either bigger or smaller, and trying to explain why
the traditional READY MADE option is not the best way of doing things, although i keep a few
myself as occasionally its unavoidable. Although a little crude in design the images below
hopefully will clarify the reasons why, more importantly its easier to SEE FOR YOURSELF !

First example showing a LARGE size oblong ring having a section taken out to make it smaller
causing the head to curve down around its radius, and then requiring the top to be filed down
until flat :: Result is the ring is considearbly thinner especially in the cetre of the head.

In the second example below starting with the same ring, The images are portraying a ring
having been cut through it original central shank join, and spread open to facilitate a new
section being soldered in place, this new section now requiring two joins insted of the usual
one join and the result is a deep recess in the head , again requiring filing down resulting in a
considerable loss in metal content , weight, thickness and slightly altered proportions.
As the majority of mass produced rings are castings, made from a mould in only one finger
size, average size being size R. If you request one in a size G it will be sized down 11 sizes and
although if very thin this is not an issue, when refering to thick headed (nice quality) signet
rings, its a definite NO. Or at least for a professional like myself who is manufacturing to order
its more of a case of producing a new master pattern to suit and then making your ring
bespoke. This takes longer to do, yet i do not actually charge any more for this bespoke service
than i do for a standard one, so it is well worth the wait extra time from order to delivery
Ever heard a jeweller tell you it can't be made that size, or rule of thumb maximum 5 sizes ?
