Delft Clay Casting Of Signet Rings
The video here is of your's truly, my own personal
technique, derived from a process invented in
the eighties by, Hans Karreman.
Generally only used by smaller manufacturers
like myself, as individual casting is more time
consuming than bulk casting by the lost wax
process, by which 95% of jewellery is made.
One Large Benefit of Delft Clay
However this technique allows for using re cycled
Gold or Silver , in the form of scrap jewellery.
Less Expensive than casting grain & No V A T
These are my budget range of rings
As a generalisation you do tend to get what you
pay for, these rings as you will clearly see from
my video's are heavier and thicker than most
mass produced rings of a similar price, but may
suffer some very minor imperfections a common
problem in all silver casting techniques.
9ct gold castings generally are faultless.
However there is no substitute for Die Stamped
signet rings if you want the absolute best quality
and are willing to pay the extra (roughly double)
for 925 sterling silver and 50% extra in 9ct gold
then die stampings are worth considering.
Delft clay casting £45.00
Die stamped £87.50
